About
I turn GenAI ideas into systems that run in production.
I'm Rajat Pal, a software engineer based in Chandigarh, India. I started on backend systems, building REST microservices at Amazon and later for enterprise e-commerce. Over the last few years my work has moved almost entirely into GenAI.
Today I work as a forward-deployed engineer: I sit with business and data science teams, figure out where AI actually helps, and own each use case from scoping to production. That has meant building an agentic AI platform, RAG pipelines, observability for multi-agent systems, and the evaluation practices that tell us whether any of it is working.
What I care about most is the gap between a demo and a dependable product: retrieval that returns the right context, agents you can trace and debug, and changes you can measure before you ship.
Experience
- Nov 2020 – Present
Infosys
Specialist Programmer · Forward Deployed Engineer
- Embedded with Citizens Bank teams in the US, helping business and data science teams adopt GenAI across RAG and non-RAG use cases, owning each from scoping to production.
- Architected an enterprise agentic AI platform for data scientists using AWS Strands, RAG, SageMaker, vector search, and LLM tool-calling.
- Built core SDK pieces: OpenTelemetry-based multi-agent observability, dynamic import resolution for deployments, and Jinja2 code generation for low-boilerplate agents.
- Designed a batch RAG pipeline (S3 ingestion → chunking → embeddings → vector index) and improved retrieval with better chunking and metadata filtering.
- Set up evaluation practices for retrieval quality, response quality, and agent behavior.
- Earlier: built and enhanced high-scale REST microservices on the Skava e-commerce platform.
- Jan 2020 – Jul 2020
Amazon
Software Development Engineer Intern · Payment Services
- Developed RESTful web services and API models with Jersey (JAX-RS).
- Added frontend pages with React and TypeScript, and shipped feature enhancements to team-owned services.
